Born in the Highlands, Norman has been playing the button accordion since early childhood. Shortly after moving to Edinburgh in 2002,  he formed ‘The Ceilidh Experience’.

Norman has made several TV appearances, most recently live on BBC One’s ‘This Week’ show hosted by Andrew Neil at The Ghillie Dhu, Edinburgh.

His own compositions have been covered by various musicians around the world and regularly feature on TV and radio in both the UK and abroad, from the television documentary ‘The Reivers and the Making of the Borders’ to the recent American Express MasterCard TV commercial which used a sample of his playing on the soundtrack. He was also commissioned to compose the soundtrack for ‘Chain’ a short film by the crime writer ‘James Crosbie’ which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
Later that year he released his debut album “The Perfect Squeeze” which was produced by Ross Kennedy and features some of Scotland’s finest musicians including Moishe’s Bagel violinist, Greg Lawson and Donald Shaw of the Celtic super group, Capercaillie.

Norman is currently composing and recording a full album of original music which will feature performances from some of Scotland’s leading musicians in both the folk and classical genres. He is also in the process of re-building a piano in his own design using Scottish Elm ‘The Woodeye Piano’. Both of these projects are scheduled for completion / release in Autumn 2019.

When he’s not writing music or touring with The Experience he can often be found designing and making furniture in his Woodeye Furniture workshop in East Lothian.
