Accordion / Midi/ Caller
Born in the Scottish Highlands, Norman has been obsessed with rock music and accordions since early childhood. Shortly after moving to Edinburgh in 2002, he combined these passions forming ‘The Ceilidh Experience’.
Norman has made several TV appearances, most recently live on BBC One’s ‘This Week’ show hosted by Andrew Neil at The Ghillie Dhu, Edinburgh.
His own compositions have been covered by various musicians around the world and regularly feature on TV and radio in both the UK and abroad, from the television documentary ‘The Reivers and the Making of the Borders’ to the recent American Express MasterCard TV commercial which used a sample of his playing on the soundtrack. He was also commissioned to compose the soundtrack for ‘Chain’ a short film by the crime writer ‘James Crosbie’ which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
Norman recently released a full album of original music (The Inventor) which features performances from some of Scotland’s leading musicians in both the folk and classical genres. He also designs & builds furniture in his spare time – normanmackay.com
