Slawek was born in Lodz, Poland. As a child he studied both classical violin and upright bass before finally discovering drums.
He spent several years living in Warsaw where he was a founder member of the Jazz/ funk project ‘Rejs’ with whom he toured and performed at many festivals throughout Poland.
In 1998 he graduated from Warsaw Conservatoire with a Jazz degree. He then spent several years working as a session musician in New York where he collaborated with many of the great funk and Jazz musicians on the Manhattan scene. Meanwhile he studied at the New York Institute of audio research gaining a Diploma in sound engineering.
In 2004 he moved to Scotland where he obtained an MSC in sound design. He is now based in Edinburgh where he works as a freelance drummer. Since moving to Scotland he has worked with many bands, projects, recordings and TV & radio engagements, including live studio sessions with BBC Jazz House hosted by Steve Duffy.
Slawek’s background in funk, jazz & electronica brings a very different and exciting dimension to the band’s sound and style.
