Norman Mackay’s Ceilidh Experience are St Andrews’ leading rock ceilidh band. We provide high energy live ceilidh music with a twist. Electric fiddle, rock guitar, accordion and drums bring traditional Scottish tunes to life with an infectious energy that gets everybody dancing. Our professional dance caller ensures even complete beginners can join in the fun.

As well as our monthly gigs at Edinburgh’s Stramash and Ghillie Dhu venues, The Ceilidh Experience are on the road almost every week of the year performing at weddings and events across Scotland and internationally. We’ve performed in many of St Andrews’ finest venues such as the Old Course Hotel, Kinkell Byre, Strathtyrum House as well as many nearby wedding venues including Cambo House, Teasses Estate, Parts Barns & The Rhynd. We have experience performing in most of the local St Andrews wedding venues and what works best in each space – from intimate celebrations to grand receptions.
Ceilidh Band And DJ Package
This is our most popular party package which includes the full Rock Ceilidh Band with a dance caller (a type of MC who explains the moves and steps for the traditional scottish dancing tunes). Over the course of the night the band usually plays two sets and in between times our professional DJ spins a fine selection of modern tunes. We’ll work closely with you to create the perfect playlist of your favourite music guaranteed to get your party jumping.
Our package includes a full professional sound system and lighting rig, with optional extras such as Highland dancers who’ll interact with your guests and help guide them through the moves.
We can also provide a traditional Highland bagpiper for your ceremony and/or wedding breakfast, adding that iconic Scottish touch to your day.
